So my buddy constantly tells everyone at work what a great cook he was back home in India. So he finally invited us over to eat some of his specialty foods and to “teach us” how to cook…. He also says he can make incredible steaks and wants to “teach me” how to make a steak…. This is his “tuna melt”. Please tell me I’m wrong and he knows how to cook….

    I mean, it’s a tuna melt lol

    Edit: this is precooked

    I don’t think that’s chef- like in anybody’s country.

  3. DragonScrivner

It might taste great … but it’s not the best Western-style tuna melt I’ve ever seen. Maybe he has a different idea of what constitutes a “tuna melt”.

My sister worked as the cook on a small private sailboat and made this sort of thing during their months-long trips across the open ocean.

Looks 100x better than those Indian street food videos

Are you absolutely sure he didn’t say he used to be Jeff in India, and you didn’t hear it correctly?

  7. Same-Mark7617

Truthfully, is this a friend or someone youve been hoping to catch in a moment?

Mate, ask him to cook what his parents (if applicable) made for him. I think he’s trying to make what he *thinks* you’ll like, but we all wsnt that traditional home Indian food.

If this is it, then he may have gone to an English school back home so it makes sense, but certainly he’s eaten authentic Indian food

This looks a bit more like what a chef/cook makes for themself after a shift than what they make to impress customers. It does look like it’s would taste good tho!

Based on the way you described this, it sounds like you already dislike this person and are honestly insanely immature to put all the effort in that backstory just to post it on here. Was this the final tuna melt? I’m inclined to believe you still wouldn’t enjoy it if it was melted

  11. As a cook (not exactly a chef) my worst meals are always at home

  12. IRollAlong

It’s on a toasting rack precooked. Looks ok to me

You can’t brag about cooking when all you did was put tuna/mayo/seasonings on bread, slice cheese, and bake it…unless he made the bread, mayo, and cheese himself…and used freshly caught Tuna. Even then, that’s a basic asf way to show off those talents.

This looks like a dude that is caught up in the smell of his own shit without the funds or talent to demonstrate otherwise.

This is diner level. Next he’ll tell you how good his fried eggs and bacon is…which I love btw, but it’s not something to brag about.

  14. Sleep_Paralysis_Wolf

It looks like you took the picture while it was on a rack about to be melted.

this post reads like you don’t like him and you’re just trying to undermine his ability to cook/doubted him from the start for some reason.

This looks like something a 6 year old would try to make.

  16. Castille_92

Nice. You should repost it after it becomes a melt

  17. SosZilla95

Ok? It’s a tuna melt before melting. What’s the problem? This probably isn’t one of the nicer things he makes. Chefs don’t always make extravagant things lol. I’d hate to be your “friend”. I’d be hurt to find out my “friend” was shit talking me on Reddit. Mad weird.

  18. Takes a special kind of bitch to take pictures of food that a friend made for you and post it on this forum to make fun of them.

  19. BuildingOne7379

Why use a tuna melt to teach someone how to make steak? The hot air out of this chef’s mouth is enough to bake these guys.

I like cooking, but I always find the optimal variation of a simple meal so that it’s as satisfying as any complicated meal.

  21. The real question is how does the tuna seasoning pair with the cheese and bread choices.

You can’t see the flavor in a picture.

    Pretty /= Delicious.

  22. Few-Tadpole4043

They’re on the toasting rack so he intends to toast it so what’s the issue here? This seems like a perfectly good lunch/ snack

  23. Terriblevidy

Looks like a tuna melt to me little bro. Sorry you can’t handle tuna and cheese, it truly is an advanced dish.

  24. slumxl0rd87

Your friend is certifiably full of shit mate

  25. probsthrowaway2

No chef I know wants to actually cook in their spare time.

  26. ExcitingStress8663

Cooked? He merely made some open face sandwiches

  27. Aggleclack

These comments are wild lol. He was the one claiming to be a chef and saying negative things about everyone else’s food. I’d have no inclination to give him a participation award for this unmelted tuna melt. Y’all getting weirded out by tuna and cheese, go outside. It’s a tuna melt and very common. He did not invent them lol
